Police checks on retailers selling knives from Sunday 22nd May

Shops in the London area will see an increase in spot-checks this week to ensure regulations surrounding knife sales are being adhered to.

This increase police activity will then be rolled out Nationwide to retailers selling knives such as cookshops and hardware shops.

Bira urges all retailers to check they are fully aware of current regulations and to ensure proper storage, display, sale and delivery of knives, including cutlery knives to avoid risk of enforcement notices and fines.

The National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) has full information on the current guidance here.
